14-Days to Six Figures and Medical Device Sales

I want to tell you about Nick Herbert, someone who went from feeling stuck, broke, and lost… to getting hired by one of the largest medical device companies in the world 14 days after joining our program.
Nick Before Medical Device Sales
Nick grew up in California’s Central Valley, played three sports in high school, and went on to play college baseball. He’s always been competitive and team-minded.
From the time he was a kid, his dream was firefighting. After college at Arizona State, he got his EMT, joined a fire academy-style program in Phoenix, and started down the path he thought he’d follow for life.
Then reality hit.
He couldn’t work enough while training and reached a point where he was literally deciding between gas and groceries. For a 23–24-year-old, that’s a tough place to be. He finally had to put the firefighting dream on hold and figure out “what now?”
He moved into sales:
- First in staffing and recruiting
- Then in healthcare-related inside sales
On paper he was “doing fine,” but inside he felt like he was just drifting and living without purpose.
Finding the Podcast and Finally Jumping In
Nick’s mom is in the medical space and told him he’d be great in medical device sales. At first, he didn’t really commit. Then he found the New to Medical Device Sales podcast.
He started listening casually. Then he binged it. Dozens of episodes in a couple of weeks.
He realized two big things:
- He’d been waiting for permission to chase what he really wanted
- He’d been focused on what might go wrong instead of what might go right
That’s when he decided to stop overthinking and take the jump.
We got on a call early one morning. It was obvious right away that he didn’t lack talent — he lacked confidence and a clear plan. He joined the program and decided he wanted to be the guy who could one day sit in the podcast seat and tell his story.
How He Broke In So Fast
Breaking in within 14 days isn’t normal, but it is possible when you combine speed, effort, and a hiring team that’s ready to move.
Here’s what Nick actually did:
- He followed the program instead of trying to “wing it”
- He networked hard with reps and managers
- He always asked for the next contact and the next step
- He followed up quickly and professionally
- He got into multiple interview processes, not just one
- He stayed open to relocation, which made him more flexible and attractive as a candidate
He impressed one of the biggest med device companies so much that they created a territory for him in the Bay Area because they didn’t want to lose him.
He was ready to break his lease in Phoenix and move back to Northern California. Fully committed. Then the company called and said they were going to keep him in Phoenix instead and give him that territory there.
Same company. Same big opportunity. No move required in the end — but it only happened because he was willing to go all-in.
He got the offer in 14 days from joining the program, with no prior medical device experience.
Final Thoughts
Nick’s story shows that you can go from choosing between gas and groceries to a six-figure medical device job surprisingly fast if you stop stalling, give yourself permission to go all-in, follow a real plan, and do the work with a great attitude — and once you combine that with confidence and openness to opportunity, doors can open way sooner than you think.
